This weekend gone I was in Manchester to see Liz, hang out with her Uni mates and go to the Chibuku Party at the Warehouse Project. Playing was Justice, Busy P, DJ Mehdi, So-Me, The Presets, Fake Blood and Yuksek. I.e pretty much the best line up I’ve ever seen in one night. I was pretty convinced prior to the gig that I would enjoy Justice the most, especially after their live set at Leeds Fest, which was, in short, amazing. However Busy P and Mehdi were way way better, Busy looked genuinely like he was stoked to be there, and really got the crowd going, plus he played the soulwax remix of ‘kids’ and ‘to protect and enterain’ albiet minus the hilarious vocals from Murs. Mehdi was simialrly entertaining, and when he dropped ’signatune’ it was nothing short of epic. Don’t get me wrong, Justice were good, just not as good as they are live (they were doing a DJ set) and I think I was just happy to be seeing Busy P and Mehdi for the first time.
The warehouse project itself is amazing, it’s actually under Piccadilly Station, and used to be a car park. It’s all brick, no windows, portaloos, and really high vaulted ceilings, plus it has the Funkton 1 soundsystem, that Digital has in Newcastle, and is the loudest in Europe.

Lloyd Wright has been staying at mine all week after doing a small roadtrip with H Man and the Federal flow team. Aside from impressing Irish girls in Digital with his guns, he’s been shredding and generally winding me up. The dude rules.

Liz’s friend Gemma is considerably smaller than me. She’ll hate me for posting this.

We had lunch two days running at this cool place called Trofs. Quite expensive for a student eatery, but good nontheless.

Busy P, what the fuuuuuuuuuuck

Justice. Terrible iPhone pic.

More food at Trof’s

In the station on my way home there was a film crew filming some lame programme called ‘the choir project’ or something. The acting was pretty dire, or maybe I just sampled it hopelessly out of context?

I went home and hung out with my cat

and my brother

And ate some awesome home cooked Yorkshire puddings. Proper sunday dinner, fuck Aunt Bessie.

I just remembered I used to live around the corner from Trof (it wasn’t painted black then so i didn’t recognise it at first).
