Entries from November 2008

I went down to London on Wednesday for an interview, I set off nice and early to make the most of the day, so by the time I got home I was shattered!

I met up with Rob Loeber who’s moved to London to work as a graphic designer for Urban Outfitters, we went to this cool pizza and pasta place around the corner from his office. They have an open kitchen where they make whatever you order right in front of you, and for London, it’s cheap!

I also had a completely surprise run in with Mellon while in Urban Outfitters. We waited outside for his girlfriend to finish shopping and he managed to stop looking from left to right and moaning long enough for me to get this photo, which was ultimately ruined by the bus in the background.

I also found a Banksey. Pretty stoked.

Just thought I’d post a load of photos from recently that don’t really fit anywhere else. Above is Jonny, hitting the newly installed wallride at 5 bridges. To be honest, I’ve no idea why Jonny and I stopped riding together regularly, I guess I just got sucked into my own routine or whatever. Never forget your true friends.

Chris had a bake sale at Uni, so I offered to help him make the beast. One phone call later, we had the recipie, and after a trip to Tesco we were stocked up. Let the bumbling round the kitchen and mess begin.

My good friend Tom had some of his recent work up on display at the Uni on Monday, it was really cool. I never got chance to ask him what it was all about, so my friend Holly filled me in; ‘the ideas of change from child to adult/directed and unconscious perception’. I think his stuff is cool, and I took some more snaps after the jump.

This weekend gone I was in Manchester to see Liz, hang out with her Uni mates and go to the Chibuku Party at the Warehouse Project. Playing was Justice, Busy P, DJ Mehdi, So-Me, The Presets, Fake Blood and Yuksek. I.e pretty much the best line up I’ve ever seen in one night. I was pretty convinced prior to the gig that I would enjoy Justice the most, especially after their live set at Leeds Fest, which was, in short, amazing. However Busy P and Mehdi were way way better, Busy looked genuinely like he was stoked to be there, and really got the crowd going, plus he played the soulwax remix of ‘kids’ and ‘to protect and enterain’ albiet minus the hilarious vocals from Murs. Mehdi was simialrly entertaining, and when he dropped ’signatune’ it was nothing short of epic. Don’t get me wrong, Justice were good, just not as good as they are live (they were doing a DJ set) and I think I was just happy to be seeing Busy P and Mehdi for the first time.
The warehouse project itself is amazing, it’s actually under Piccadilly Station, and used to be a car park. It’s all brick, no windows, portaloos, and really high vaulted ceilings, plus it has the Funkton 1 soundsystem, that Digital has in Newcastle, and is the loudest in Europe.
