Entries from October 2008

Sometimes opportunities come along where there’s just no way you’re going to say no. Like the opportunity to go to London to a private Red Bull party, all expenses paid free bar and it’s at Fabrics new club ‘Matter’ at the o2. Add in to that the evenings entertainment, Annie Mac, Wiley, Roll Deep and Scratch and you’re on to a winner. The company wasn’t to shabby either, I went down with Marc who’s one of the dudes behind Prefab 77 and a girl called Amy who I’ve been introduced to before, but rather embarrassingly had forgotten about, and we met Danny down there. The night was seriously amazing, I can’t thank Danny enough for inviting me down. I took a few snaps and I wrote some more stuff after the link.

The only Brighton Ain’t Ready premiere north of Derby will be right here in Newcastle, next week at 8:30pm at DB Social on West Newbridge Street. Straight after we’ll be firing up the decks and having the after party right in the same place. There’ll be really cheap drinks curtosy of Red Bull and it’s going to be one hell of a night. See you all there.

Mellon commented on the Manchester Central post and it reminded me how good his blog, the sketchbook is. Mellon is a really talented illustrator and I love the way he has thought of a cool story for each of his characters. As for the rhino above Mellon says that “So this is a rhino I came up with before, I like him, I imagine he’d chew his grass thoroughly before swallowing it and make sure he washed behind his ears everytime he went in the waterhole”. Mellon rules, ever though everytime I see him he further cements the impression I have of him that he’s an angry young man. Ha ha.
Check out the sketchbook here.
Oh yeah, and the next ‘Creep’ will be there 30th Ocotber and will have the only Brighton Ain’t Ready premiere north of Derby, 8:30pm onwards, be there. Red Bull are helping out so expect some awesomeness. More news as it happens.

Manchester Central is a really good skatepark and whenever I’m in the area I make an effort to ride it. There’s no decent indoor park anywhere near Newcastle, so until somebody will drive me to ocean terminal in Edinburgh, I’m happy to ride Central when I can. Me and Scott met up with Angus and Hudds local Josh and rode some street for a bit before heading to the skatepark. As usual, hit link, more photos.
Also, as a side note, does anybody know why iPhoto rapes the colour of photos when you export them? The origionals of these had way more pop.

Scott turned 21 on Monday so this past weekend I made the trek down the Huddersfield to party, ride and see everyone. Phil and Orla also came down from Newcastle, Jen came up from Sheffield and Liz came up from Canterbury. We had an awesome weekend, night out in Leeds on Friday was messy, and we did plenty of riding. Click below for more photos.

Creep is now fortnightly at Newcastle premium eatery and underground music venue, DB Social. This time, my good friend, and welsh transplant Bryan Hogg will be filling the guest spot. Thanks to my brother who saved the day by knocking out this poster at last minute as my Photoshop is fucked. Cheers James. See you all next week!

Somehow Phil and I pulled off Creep, and it was awesome. First and foremost I want to thank Greg, Lewis and Garrin because without those three the night would not have happened. Chris was nice enough to take some awesome photos and my lovely girlfriend even came up from Canterbury to surprise me. Hit the link for some photos and the full gallery will be up on creepclubnight.wordpress.com shortly. And how could I forget, thank you to everyone that came, it was packed and it really was a good night! Keep your eyes peeled for the next one!

Tom got a job the weirdest way ever last week. We were waiting in the queue for Rub a Dub Dub wen there’s some dude filming the crowd for some kind of night life vido. Turns out he works for igotfilmed.com, anyway, To starts griefing him for putting a lens on wrong and they get talking and the dude offers Tom a job! His first assignment is to film ‘Laid Bear’ at WHQ, and I got in for free as his ‘assistant’. Love free entry. Anyway, it’s pretty dead inside and he had a hard time filling the required 25 minutes of raw footage he was required to get. A good time nontheless, and I’m pretty sure it was dead only becuase it was the week after freshers. I took my camera and got some snaps of peeps.
